Lower Antelope Canyon is found
on the Navajo Indian Reservation near the town of Page. The erosive
power of water on sandstone is highly evident here as flash floods
through this slot canyon have resulted in carving amazing shapes and
textures. Gathering enough light for slow speed transparency film
here is a real challenge with exposure times ranging from 15 seconds
to 2 minutes at apertures between f/32 & f/45. Sand blowing down from
the surface above presents a hazard to film and camera. The graphic
quality of this canyon offers endless photographic compositions and I
managed to expose 15 sheets of film in about 2 1/2 hours.
