This is one of
my favorite images from a six-week long fall trip through the southwest a
few years ago. Unfortunately I have only one sheet of film of this sunrise
because it actually looks better on film than it did to the eye at the time of exposure. I awoke
this particular morning well before dawn hoping to catch a reflection of clouds at sunrise off of
the dry lake bed. I didn't think I caught the light so I only made one exposure - I just wasn't
thinking. I had to do an exposure of 15 seconds and during this time the additive effect of light
on the film captured a very colorful reflection on the playa's surface. I was very pleasantly
surprised when I first saw this image on the lightbox.
