STORY BEHIND THE IMAGE | ||||
|
|
Some of nature's
finest aspen groves are found in the central and southern Rocky Mountains
of Colorado. Roads that leave from Crested Butte and travel over Kebler
and Ohio Passes can be especially nice in late September. Be careful when
photographing aspen near a road. Many individuals seem to delight in
carving their names or initials in the bark of these trees - ruining
their beauty for everyone else. This is another example of an
"intimate landscape" and again, soft light from a cloudy day was
absolutely necessary. Harsh highlights and shadows would greatly detract
from this image. Waiting for breaks in a slight breeze was also necessary
as the exposure time was three seconds.
