Only
the sandstone canyons of the American Southwest could yield this type of
an image. The location is in a side canyon with a creek that flows into the main Virgin River
canyon in Zion National Park. Here mid-morning sun is striking a cliff opposite this wall and filling
the image with warm, reflected light. A natural seep in the sandstone accounts for the color palette of the
background wall. The tree, displaying early fall colors, was perfect to complete the composition. It's
definitely a rare treat when a good image can be obtained in sunny,
mid-day light.
